Statutory Reporting and Compliance Accountant DEPARTMENT: Finance REPORTING TO: Director of Finance JOB FUNCTION: This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an up and coming trained and qualified accountant to join Chelsea FC's Finance department. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the business meets its statutory and regulatory obligations to support the delivery of finance activities and will develop your knowledge within statutory reporting as well as gaining additional expertise in taxation. The successor of this role will need to be a self-starter with commercial experience within statutory accounts, keen to drive and develop their career further.
Manage the interim and year end audit processes, including being the main point of contact for external auditors
Ensure timely and efficient production of statutory accounts under UK GAAP for all companies within the Group
To be familiar with and keep abreast of latest accounting requirements / standards and company law and apply as necessary to the Group's financial reporting.
Assist with other finance related projects and ad-hoc requests for information.
Gain a detailed understanding of processes currently in operation within each location and identify key controls and risks.
Conduct internal financial control audits and ad-hoc projects requested by Management across the business.
Assist in the identification of best practice and consistent standards to be rolled out across the business.
Identify and implementing reasonable procedures to ensure the Group complies with recently introduced Corporate Criminal Offence legislation
Assist in testing and evaluation of internal controls related to the Group's accounting and financial reporting functions.
Work with our tax advisors ensure timely production of corporate tax computations
Ensuring VAT is properly accounted for across the Group
Managing the reporting and compliance requirements of the Group's overseas subsidiaries
Responsibility for compliance with other applicable taxes and filings including, but not limited to, Employment Taxes (domestic and overseas), MOSS, EC Sales Lists, Distance Selling, FEU.
Managing any ad hoc tax enquiries.
Being the tax specialist point of contact for the company on all UK tax related issues
Proven experience in dealing with the responsibilities outlined above
Professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years PQE and good understanding of UK GAAP
Ability to work under pressure and deliver to strict timetables
Contributing towards the department's housekeeping, filing, record maintenance and internal control procedures.
Demonstrable experience of working with others in large, matrixed organisations and successfully design and deliver creative and measureable projects and programmes which bring greater financial understanding and operational excellence
The ability to understand the specific nature of financing and revenue generation in a sports club environment.
Demonstrate a confident and persuasive communication style (verbal and written) which adapts to the audience and can present and communicate complex information in a simple and compelling way
Has the ability to propose, justify, initiate and implement change and problem solving
Demonstrable ability to build relationships, negotiate, facilitate and manage conflict resolution
Assertive, self-starter who works effectively and efficiently whilst demonstrating resilience and responsiveness to issues in a rapidly changing environment.
Excellent team working skills which embody proactivity, enthusiasm and a hands on approach
Appreciation and experience of working with sensitive and confidential information
Higher education and qualified ACA accountant, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in statutory reporting and compliance in a global environment.
