Residential Activity Leader

British Study Centres need energetic and enthusiastic people with a passion for football and working with young learners. Leaders will be responsible for helping to organise, plan and supervise all elements of their player’s activity programme.

British Study Centres Young Learners provide English language activity courses to an international market. The organisation has 8 permanent schools, and summer pop-up centres located across the UK. They need passionate and enthusiastic individuals to help drive the strategy forward.


This is an exciting role where daily duties are based at the Manchester City Football Academy – CFA is a £200 million complex which is home to the men’s first team, women’s team and all youth teams. The delivery of the course also takes place at Connell College, a sixth form centre of excellence which is next to the CFA, and Salford University – ranked one of the world’s most international universities.


Leaders will be responsible for helping to organise, plan and supervise all elements of our player’s activity programme, including off-site excursions, and on-site activities; bringing all programmes together in an exciting and yet safe environment.


General Duties

  • Work as part of the activity team, led by the Activity Coordinator/Centre Manager
  • Provide the best possible learning experience, through excellent customer service
  • Work with the wider centre operations and academic team to support the smooth running of the centre, ensuring players enjoy their stay
  • Ensure safeguarding policies are adhered to
  • Remain vigilant, and ensure that players and colleagues’ safety is a priority at all times • Maintain player behaviour
  • Deal with facility providers and venues, e.g. City Football Schools staff/Connell College staff/Salford University staff, in a professional manner
  • Assist in the preparation of day, evening and weekend activities and excursions
  • Lead and supervise a variety of evening and weekend excursions and activities; making them interesting and educational, and ensuring all safeguarding and welfare requirements are fulfilled
  • Promote activities and encourage player participation in all elements of the courses
  • Cash handling, including making payments to venues and supplier
  • Attend and participate in regular team meetings
  • Attend the airport to meet arriving players and see off departing players
  • Guide arrival/departure coaches from/to the airport and provide relevant information
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required



  • Must hold an up to date DBS check
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
  • Must be fluent in English

Pastoral Duties 

  • In return for pastoral duties we will provide residential full board accommodation on campus as part of the package
  • Ensure players are in bed at night, and up in the mornings by the designated times
  • Respond to emergencies at any time, and notify the relevant people
  • Centre patrol to ensure students are settled in their rooms/dorms
  • Supervise break and meal times
  • Checks of the bedrooms and common areas
  • Assist with the washing of the players’ football kit
