Ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with Aberdeen, Jobs in Football take a look at Celtic and their impressive form.
The top two Scottish Premiership teams go head-to-head on Wednesday evening as Aberdeen host Celtic at Pittodrie.
The teams are tied on 23 points at the top of the table, with Celtic sitting in first place ahead of the Dons on goal difference.
So let’s look at the top performance of the Hoops this season:
Celtic are Europe’s best passers, with Brendan Rodgers side being one of only two teams observed by the CIES Football Observatory to have managed a pass accuracy greater than 70% in 2017-18 so far (BBC Sport).
CIES’ figures show that Celtic, on average, complete 659 passes per game — that’s 1.2 successful passes every ten seconds so far this season.
The rankings for the highest pass completion rate are as follows:
- Celtic: 70.8%
- Dortmund: 70.2%
- PSG: 67.7%
- Shakhtar: 67.5%
- Man City: 67.1%
The closest Scottish club to Celtic are Aberdeen, who are 45th, ahead of Napoli, Marseille, Roma, Sevilla and Southampton, which also makes for an interesting game ahead of tomorrow night!
